Only one answer to your question...
IBM 9LZX (10000rpm, 4Mb cache, U2W)

More info on www.storage.ibm.com (http://www.storage.ibm.com)

Just got a Quantum Atlas 10K 18 gig and to say i'm completely satisfied would be an understatement. Absolutely amazing performance. Best drive i've ever owned....

I installed some Seagate Cheetahs (the 10000/4MB variety). They're just as good as the IBMs.

IBM, Seagate; Seagate, Quantum; Quantum, IBM...I don't know.

Today..? I'd go for the IBM.

Hey Stan. I'm finally getting around to trying the IBM ATA66 Raid solution. Thought I'd see how this goes, before upgrading the disk sub-system to Raid on a workstation using the existing U2 LVD drives. How's both of your raid sub-systems holding out? ...Do I really need to ask? /forum/wink.gif

Hi Bleeding Edge,

Well, this RAID card is the best upgrade I have ever done.
I can't wait to buy another 2 HD to complete the RAID0 array. With 4 IBM's 22Gxp, that must fly !

At work, I have tested a RAID IDE PC against a U2W PC. The RAID PC config is RAID 0 and 1 (4HDs) and the U2W config is RAID1 (mirror under NT). Both PC have the same amount of RAM and the same CPU.

The Server is a dedicated SQL7 PC with a 3Gb db. Most of the time, 10 to 15 users are connected to it.

Well, after one month of testing and monitoring, I got rid of the U2W PC !
With such a big price difference, this RAID card is really worth it !
