i have the sound blaster live xgamer and the desktop theater 5.1 dt2500. bought all so i could use the digital sound. have all the cables conected corectly and still get no sound from the digital. have talkted to creative tech supoort and they went thought everything and finnaly told me the digital would not work because i dont have there dvd decoder card. i know that is not true because the decoder card usses the ac3 cable. anyone have any ideas why this will not work? spent alot of money on this system and am very dissapointed.
you trying to get digital sound from cd? use that spdif (or whatever) cabl from cd to sblive. also try the settings in sb utility. but I don''t know because I just have the sblive not the speakers. And you are right the dxr2 just has ac3. which is digital out. What about the cable from the sblive to the speakers? does it take a special one?

I've had a very similar problem with SBlive and the Microsoft Digital Sound 80 Speakers.
Microsoft had a Faq hidden away indicating that the Sound system does have problems with win98SE (amazing, since it's a compatability problem with their own product.)
The way around it was for me to uninstall the standard USB drivers from the system (can't remember if they had been installed by SBlive or microsoft themselves?) and then rerun the DSS80 setup program with a flag disabling the diagnostics in the software. funnily enough it actually worked, including using direct digital from the CDROM through the SBlive card.
If I was you, I'd check and see if there are similar settings on the installation software for your speakers.
Hope this is of use...
