problem installing FarCry retail patch 1.02.. MSI Installshield error message

A few days ago, i reinstalled Farcry ( yes i have the retail game ) , and it installed fine and runs fine ( actaully great ) , and so tooday i downloaded the only patch i know listed ( retail 1.02 ) and upon the install porcess i get stopped with the error box thing ( typ. error code 1607) , which i have seen before. I guess it has something to do with MSI config. or setup or missing data... not sure.

Every time something like this happens, it causes me concern. I want everything to run,install and operate correctly, but honestly, i haven't a clue as to what to do.

I just retried to installed the thing and it said i had one installed , which i don't (9 i havwe file version 1.01 something ) , and thern said it needed to reinstall it.. it went into the process and right away i get this msi message and error code and yet another number 1706 ..wahtever.

Not that this is extremely imporant to me, but often patches use additions like HDR updates or other i may want to try . The game plays fine now.... and i just had a fresh clean install of windows done less than two weeks ago. No problems in my rig... AFAIK. :confused:

This seems to be my problem i think.. still i cannot see m to find any apparent things i think may be wrong with my setup from this.. possibly some registry cleaner program ( only used once or twice two well known and not related to this MSI at all )

i got it right finally. Turns out that what i figured in the back of my mind was correct. I had not installed the 1.1 patch yet, thus the game gave me these errors which related to that.. Still i cannot understand why when you try to install a patch before a previous one, the code makers, failed to just say that, instead of getting all these errors and no install thing.

Important to note for new gamers, that in most cases patches need to be installed in increments..,meaning the first patch, then the second and so on. Some game makers make patches that automatically uninstall previous before installing what you want. Not in this case though. I forgive them becasue they are german game makers , and although good ones, they might miss something.. but not much in this game.

I now have it up to version 1.3 as before previously back when.. LOL
