I tried to install the new VIA 4 in 1 drivers on my system as opposed to the Microsoft drivers on it but after I rebooted, I got to a frozen black screen with the mouse point in the middle. I've formatted my hard drive again only to find the same results. I have a P3 450, Soyo 6VBA-133, 128 PC100 SDRAM, and a AGP Viper 2 video card. Can anyone help me out?

mushi, you mean you reformatted and without the VIA drivers you ended up with the same black screen?
Does it come up in safe mode?
(If you don't know, start it in safe mode by repeatedly pressing F8 just before the Windows splash screen would come on during boot up)
Also, via says the new drivers are not needed for Win98SE, but only for 95 and 98 (original)

Had the same problem when I first put together a system with the SY 6vba. Turned out it was the video card that was defective. (Actually, when I switched cards, I got rid of the black screen, but had intermittent shut downs-that was bad memory and it may have been the source of the original black screen problem. I learned a useful lesson, however; you get what you pay for. No more cheap memory, cheap video cards for me.
By the way, I installed the via drivers as per instructions; no problems.
