Help! It won't restart!

Hello There,

This is the pic. A asus p3b-f mb with a p3 500, 64 ram, 20 gig Quantum, and a Voodoo 3000.
Right off the bat....when I installed 98 it didn't come out the first restart, i reseted it and it continued to install 98, it failed to reboot the second time. Anyways, I managed to finish installing 98 and various drivers, but it still does it.....I click on shut down....restart....it goes black everyting is still turning (power,fans) but ot won't restart. Same when I install something...it asks to shut done and restart...it the monitor goes black but its not coming out of the restart.
What could it be? Tried differnt memory, diffrent hard drive and the same happens.....

A couple of ideas -

First, will it boot okay after the power switch is shut off? If so you might want to hit f8 while its booting and start up into safe mode - then take a look at your system information and see if there's anything weird there.

Another thing you might look at would be your drivers. I've seen systems hang like that with bad or incorrect video drivers.

Thanks Dave ...it turned out to be the chip, the pentium 3 500. I put another chip on the mb and everything worked out o.k.
