Grrr...Landlord rippoff

I've recently moved out of my old rented place in to a new one. The old place was clean and tidy when I left it except for a small stain in a corner of a room and I mean small.

And because of this they won't release my bond back because they say it will cost more than the bond to clean the carpet (my bond is £200). Yet when I rang several carpet cleaning companies the most expensive was £100 and the cheapest is £25.

As you can see I'm not a happy bunny... :mad:

I've passed on the details of the cleaning companies to the landlord and have also contacted the Citizens Advice Bureaux and now I'm waiting to see what happens.

Landlords do that all the time ............ Get the money back by not paying the rent till the bond is used up ...... If he says anything belt him with a iron pipe :t

I've already moved out and my rent is always paid. Any way good news I've won, the landlord has given in and I'm getting the bond back and all it took was a threat of court action.

Generally speaking, students dont get their bonds back - its one of those unexplained but universal laws, your student accomodation landlord will always find a way to shaft you out of your bond.

BTW this isn't a student accommodation landlord, just a regular landlord....
