I have a agp radeon 9500 pro/9700 agp card and was thinging about upgrading to a better card and I see alot of pci cards and not so many agp ones on the market , so I was wondering is there a turnaround that its better to get a pci instead of agp now ? , also looking for recomendations for a card for about $200 to $260 in price range. i'm running xp pro with a gig and half of ram with a cpu of 3.06 gig and the motherboad is a p4p800-e deluxe asus

The PCI that you're referring to is the new(er) PCI-e. These cards are the nexgen cards from AGP. In order to be able to buy/install these cards, you'll need just about a complete upgrade to your current rig. You can't put a PCI-e card into the P4P800. It's an AGP motherboard.
If you're not up to a full upgrade of your rig, you can look at any of the cards

they're all AGP, and will give you a good idea of pricing. AGP is a dead technology. All of the current cards are PCI-e, and only a select-few models are still backward engineered to the AGP standard. The same is said with the socket 478 motherboard you're using, as socket 775 is current, and I've no doubt that will be seeing a quick death with the advent of quad-core capabilities inventing new dynamics needed for yet another mobo architecture.
My suggestion is to bump up to 2 gigs of ram, or a later AGP card, or both and save your money for a new rig.
