Hi!
Can anybody tell me what this error code means:
S53, encountered when running Powermax on a Maxtor 1.4 Gb.
I need to retrieve the data on this drive, very important.
Thanks,
Fatpete

A 1.4GB drive, wow that is old. I have lost jumpdrives that hold more data than that.
You may need to use the retail/registered version of GetDataBack from:

I Know....I don't give squat for the actual physical drive, it's the data (bar codes data) that I want. Actually the drive will sometimes allow boot (splash screen win95) then stops and says cannot write to c:, access denied. There are no password that I know of. Running Powermax for old drives gave me that eror S53. If I knew what it meant, I could probably work around it.
Thanks

How about putting the drive in another PC as a slave and copying the data over?

did that...but instead of openning windows explorer, it closes it.
So I set up another computer with a celeron CPU, Win98, and hoping to be able to open it before I put it to the old remedy (on ice)

Actually, I only want to know what this error S53 really means. Been to Maxtor and can't get anything from them. (or Seagate)

When his shorts creep-up in a knot.
And ladies and gents, mine really did this time.
