I have a weird, intermittent problem. I just got a AMD K6-3 450MHz PC from Tiger Direct. When I use my moden (generic 56K) to dial up the internet, 50% (approx.) of the time the PC will reboot itself in the middle of dialing for no apparent reason. I am a novice, so I haven't be able to figure the problem out. Any tips appreciated.

I've had a similar problem on a system I put together with FIC2013 MB, AMD K6-2/400mhz and a cheesy Amquest/KDS PCI winmodem type modem. Every once in a while, seemingly at random, when I disconnect from my dialup connection, the system reboots automatically! I have no clue why, but if it bugs me enough, maybe I'll get a better one for it. My other system, with a very similar setup - FIC2013 MB, AMD K6-2/450mhz, but with an external Diamond Supra Express 56k modem - works flawlessly and I get GREAT performance from it. There should be a fix for this, but I don't know what it is! Wish I could of been more help. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
I've seen it a few times. It has always been with a PCI Winmodem. Sometimes changing PCI slots and reloading drivers fixes it, sometimes changing the modem fixes it.
