In NT 4.0 its the Boot.ini, that file is gone now, anyone know which file it is now?

at startup this is what I show

Windows 2000 Professional
Windows 2000 Professional
Microsoft Windows

The first there is Windows 2000, the second is NT 4.0 and the third is Win98, I need to change them, can anyone help?

thanks

Now, don't quote me on this, but I believe I saw something about this when I was sweating through the Win2K registry.
I THINK the bootloader's settings are stored in your registry. The entries look a lot like the old boot.ini stuff, so you can change the text that is displayed on bootup.

Problem is, I can't remember zactly where!
Hey, at my age, your memory is the second thing to go.

I can't remember what the first was....

I went through the registry searching for "Microsoft 2000 Professional" and found nothing, I'll check again...anyone else know for sure?

thanks

Now that I think about W2K does use boot.ini and I just verified it on another PC. You may have to unhide it to see it (folder options > show all files).

It can be edited as NT4 boot.ini can.

Go to explorer and take off the viewing restrictions in win2k. I could not find boot.ini even with a search, which is strange, but it showed up once I changed the folder option.
Apparently 2000 folder view effects the search engine as well. Just found the ini with the search applet once I removed the restriction of View system files. You will get a warning about doing this, but it will solve your problem.

You would have to ask that two weeks after I removed it from my sys!

I'll load it tomorrow on another PC and find out...got me curious now.
