More than one problem!

I am having more than one problem with my computer. First my computer stops loading windows & a black screen appears with
c:\dos\vfintd.386 & it says it is a missing file. I have to press a key to finish loading windows.
Second; I was having problems with my default media player. So I deleted it & downloaded a windows media player 6.4. But my computer don't recognize this as the media player everytime I download a file to be played. Sometimes it says can not find media player. Please help if you can.Thanks for your time!

For Media Player open it and go to the menu that reads "View" and select "Options" inside it there will be a tab that reads "Formats" and check mark all the file you want Media Player to be associated with and that should register them and when you double click a file of that type or appears in a page it will be played by Media Player.

As for the file vfintd.386 I really don't, since I don't have such file in my computer, sorry. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Missing file c:\dos\vfintd.386

This is a reference to either system.ini or the system registry. Most likely a botched install or un-install of an application. Remove the reference to vfindt.386 and the machine should boot without stopping.

Sounds like you may be in need of some basic system maintenance -

I'd go through a scandisk and a defrag in safe mode to clean up the hard drive.

I'd also update my virus definitions and do a thorough sweep of the system.
