Ok, this one has me stumped. I replaced the hard drive in my boss' compaq presario(1st mistake) and now all I get are problems with the IDE controller. The computer actually boots, and he's been using it for a while now, but it shows problems in the device manager (yes, the dreaded yellow exclamation points) on the primary and secondary controllers, and it won't find the CD-ROM. On the performance tab there is all kinds of **** about DOS compatibility mode, etc. I've tried to follow the intel directions for troubleshooting the IDE controller driver, but I haven't had any luck. Does anyone have a quick fix for this (please) or am I screwed? We're running Win 98. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. COMPAQ SUCKS!!

Go to the Compaq website site and download the fix for it. If you can't find it, let us know what model, exactly, it is and I'll point you to the fix for it.

Hmm... maybe the secondary IDE channel is not enabled, you tried to install Intel's dreaded Bus Mastering drivers or the drives aren't configured on the BIOS. Check carefuly.

That is exactly why I pointed him to Compaq's website. The solution should be there.
