Ok So I brought my newly built pc to a buddies house for a few reasons.... 1 for file sharing 2 Lan partying... and 3 because i needed to get away from the parents house before i killed my self.

I set up a network connection with the network wizard on both pcs... but nothing happened... I cant access his computer... he cant access mine... its like were still blocks away from eachother... what do i do now? Ohh and there connected via Linksys router

Guessing XP here...and we gather you both can access the internet ?

Check your firewalls .
Enable Simple File Sharing to make it easy . http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp/filesharing.htm

Each game can be different how to setup a LAN . One pc has to be a server , the others are clients . Most games allow both on the same pc , so you can play from your own pc . You will likely need to open or forward the appropriate ports for your router for each pc on the LAN .

...never tried, but if the lan is not connected to the world, can't u just dmz the whole thing and not worry about ports being forwarded?
