Just about to install vista and according to vista advisor my current anti virus ap (Nod 32) will not run on vista.
So just wondering if anyone has a recommendation for working with vista?
Oh and is MS Live Onecare worth considering?

I have used AVG free and now Live OneCare. I have 1 GB of RAM on my pc with Vista Premium. AVG uses cosiderably more RAM on my pc than LOC. My pc uses 36-40% of my RAM under normal use with LOC; it uses 48-52% of my RAM continually with AVG free. I like LOC so far and imho it is worth trying to see if you like it. The free trial is 90 days; which is nice. This will give you time to wait for developers to get their software working with Vista. The place where I bought my copy of Vista included a coupon for $20 off if I decide to purchase Live OneCare. The usual safe surfing practices should be followed whichever you choose.

And that's why you don't just jump into Vista right now.
you need to upgrade to the latest release of NOD32, but it works fine.

AVG seems to work well on vista. The only program I've found which won't run on vista is nero (at least ver6 which I use, I think ver8 can do it!)

I started this thread a while back trying to find a good antivirus system.
I ended up trying the microsoft live onecare, it seems pretty good as a firewall/antivirus system with a good backup facilty, maybe a bit light on computer clean up tools.
Anyway i really liked the fact i got a 90 day trial to test it out and i've since noticed norton 360 has come out and was wondering if anyone knew if they too had a trial version to try first?
Always liked norton except over the last few years it really became a system hog, i know it's early days but if anyone has had a look at the new norton could they give their opinion?

compared to its predecessors Norton 360 is mercifully light on system resources; it's intuitive, covers most of the bases that a comprehensive security-and-performance tool should, it does also includes free online storage which to me isn't all that and a bag of chips, I don't know %'s when it comes down to resources to be honest, they re-wrote Norton from the ground up from what I have read, I guess the boot time is %30-35 faster than the 06 version, take that with a grain of salt if you will, to be honest I'm happy with my AVG & Bitdefender, I will install it on my test machine some time just to see how good it is on resources but for now I'm happy with giving my clients AVG and Bit with there new build simple smart and extremely good.

Norton 360 does not support Opera or Firefox browsers. In case that is important to anyone. :t
