Wow, exact same problem, but with a Maxtor 13.6GB UDMA/66 drive.

I bought the drive from ValueAmerica for $60. Once I installed it, formated it, and fdisked it (not in that order) and the drive read 13.6GB. I put the OS on the drive (win98SE) installed apps, drivers, etc. (not in the order) no problems. The first time I ran Norton Disk Doctor it said the drive was incorrectly reporting the amount of space it had, and that Norton could fix this problem. Now, my 13.6GB drive says it only has 12GB.

(still not too shabby for $60) however..

It's all about the Pentiums baby

Go figure...my Maxtor 13.6 GB has been showing up lately as 13.0 GB then 13.2 GB. I'm having some problems with my power supply, so I assumed it was related to that. Maybe something is wrong with the drives, though. Mine is Model #91360U4, manufactured 8/28/99. I've e-mailed a tech support guy where I got my system from, I'll let you know what he says.

gene1938,

Are you saying that your 13.6GB drive is showing up as 12.6 in windows??

If so, that is correct. Since the hardrive guys say a gig is 1,000,000,000 bytes and the OS guys say that a gig is 1,073,741,824 bytes. After the math the size is 12.6 gigs
