you can try,

Install Client for Microsoft Networks in you Network control panel

delete any .pwd files you have for login to windows

restart

It'll ask you to log in to the network, put in a username but leave the passwd blank. Click ok and it should ask you to confirm just click ok, DON'T PUT A PASSWD IN. It should startup like it normally does. you can just restart again and it "should" not ask you to login.

You can also use TweakUI to put a username as password in automatically, but it takes about 2 or 3 secs longer to load windows that way.

I never had to delete any password files - try just saying OK when it pops up and see if it works.

If you where loging on previously windows usually will see the previous pwd files.

not knowing that you don't want to use them it will ask you to log onto the network using one of those.

If you delete those and put restart and make a new one with out a password it "should" log in with out asking you to any more.

If you never logged in with a password before then just clicking ok may do it.

If you don't want to delete them you should be able to rename/movethem rename them from like user.pwd to userpwd.bak or something the important thing is to change the extension.

I know it should work but there may be an easier way to do it.

Allyou have to do is go to the network properties in control panel and change the primary network logon to windows logon. Worked for me.

The TweakUI utility does the same thing but also changes network log on status. Just changing primary logon to "Windows logon" will work unless you happen to log into a NT domain. MS put out an article just for that case: Article ID: Q140709 (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q140/7/09.ASP)

BTW, that's a pwl, short for "password list", not pwd.
