Is there a cpqmem.sys or cpqext.sys file I can refer to in config.sys (device = cpqmem.sys) that will allow my compaq deskpro xl590 to recognize the extra
RAM in the computer. A person with more expertise than I had put it there before, but I re-installed windows 98 and wiped everything out without backing up.
Any help is appreciated.

Can you get access to your bios and verify the memory configuration? Are you mixing different memory chips? Need more info, please!

Thanks Antonio. When the pc boots up it flashes thru the 48MB that is there and tests successfully. It is the operating system that does not see the memory past 48MB. Windows 98 saw it before. When I reformatted and reinstalled, I forgot to backup the driver file. So all I have is a vaque reference (cpqmem.sys or cpqext.sys or something like that). Again, thanks for any assistance.

We have about 20 of those 590's where I work. I don't know if this is going to help, but try downloading the softpacs from Compaq for that model. Here is where you can get them http://www.compaq.com/support/files/desktops/us/10_34.html
Let us know if that helps.
