I read something about this on a forum a while ago but completely forgot, until I had to reset my CMOS the other day and found myself instantly hard-locking as soon as I started up any games. It took me a day or two to figure out why.

Basically this card seems to hate being set to AGP 8x and I have no idea why. Setting to 4x = completely fine, but on 8x it constantly spams the message about "not enough power to run your graphics card" (or whatever it is) repeatedly, and just locks up.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it well known? It does seem rather random... is it a fault on their part? I'll google it a bit, just wondered if anyone's experienced it.

That was a common issue with VIA chipset boards, but I haven't seen much mentioned on NF2s. Did you update the bios?

8x versus 4x isn't that big a deal. your card shouldn't be accessing the system ram that often.

Is there a molex power connector on the video card?

Yeah there is, I even changed it so it has its own connector from the psu, as opposed to sharing with HDDs/optical drives etc.

Admittedly I haven't updated the bios yet, I'm always a bit nervous to as I have a habit of messing things up.

Anyway, it's not a big issue, as you mentioned, 4x doesn't really make a difference, I just wondered if anyone else had experienced it :)
