Hey guys, I'm currently running XP with 3 internal and 1 external hard drives
internal: 80IDE, 80SATA, 500 SATA
external: 320gb

anyways, my 500gb HD is connected to a pci-e card and when I tried installing vista on it, it only detected 8mb (full, clean installation). It lists 8mb as the capacity AND as the unallocated space.
I tried formatting it using XP, but it still gives me the same result.
Vista detects all other hard drive capacities fine.

Any ideas why? Is it because it's attached to a pci card?

thanks in advance

You may need to load the drivers for the sata pci card at the beginning of the install. press F6 and have the drivers ready on a floppy.

Another possibility is simply that Vista doesn't support that hardware. At the moment, there are plenty of hardware issues out there.

next time, state the hardware you have. otherwise, it's just a shot in the dark.

did you check the card manufacturer's website for support?
