I've got a bit of a strange question, but does anyone know if it's possible to boot from a USB Zip drive. I know it can be done with one of the parallel port Zip drives. If it isn't possible to boot from the drive, is it possible just to set it up in DOS? Any help would be grately appreciated.

I don't know for sure (I'm still a newbe) but can't you go into Bios and setthe zip dr as First place to look for boot?? Win 98SE has that option, I set mine for LS120 as first. Hope this helps-gene

Thanks for your help gene1938, but I have given that one a go already. I know that option in the BIOS works for the parallel port Zip drives but it doesn't seem to do anything for a USB zip drive!!!

I agree. USB devices load as Windows is loading and thus are not bootable yet. They need some sort of option inthe BIOS for this like Ygor said.

You would need a DOS driver for the device. DOS does not support USB.

Interesting question!
I'm out of my depth here, but my guess is one would need an option in the bios "boot to usb device" for that to work.
Anyone else?
