Just did a clean install (full format, change from FAT32 to NTFS, legit XPpro vol license) on an Acer laptop (aspire 3002Cli) that was FULL of malware. Eerything sems okay except for the wireless. It sees the D-Link WAP/router and lets me connect to it, but I have no real connectivity. I cannot ping the router - or anything else. The laptop next to it connects the same way but DOES have 'net connectivity and pings everything perfectly. If I use the wired connection the laptop works perfectly - with full 'net connectivity and successful pings. I did see that wireless zero service did not start (it was disabled, why???) but I have set it back to auto and it comes on okay. Suggestions?

Look for update NIC drivers. If that fails to fix it, then drop back to an older version of the NIC driver. I have seen new drivers BREAK the wireless connection before.

I used the latest b/g drivers off the Acer website. (I don't have an older one to try.)

Wireless cannot be managed by two utilities.

When you fresh installed the Original Wireless Utility was probably installed too, and now you have Windows Zero Configuration and the Brand Utility running in tandem.
It is so you have to disable one of the two mangers.

May be this can further help.

cat5e's probably right - xp uses one wireless, but you may have an Acer or the router utility to access the wireless?? That's the issue with only one of my laptops with the wireless I setup. The others, XP and W2k work the usual way.

Are you seeing any other wireless networks - even if at home you'll usually p/u another wireless with a weak signal, etc. be sure to hit refresh.....
