I bought a D-link DSB-V100 usb video capture device, however was not able to get
it running. I installed the drivers that came in the floppy, plugged in the
usb after I was told to do so, however, when I tried to run the video capture program, it complained about not finding a device. I got rid of this message when I added the device as an imaging device, but could not get any video signals. I checked the control panel/system device manager/usb controller. SiS7001 PCI to USB open host controller is installed. Whenever the usb device is plugged, I get the yellow (!) on the "generic usb hub" with the message "Due to hub transfer request failures, a hub has been disabled. Check you computer's cabling and devices, then restart your computer".
The usb controller irq setting is 11 and there are no conflicts. BIOS setting is also 11. PCI IRQ steering setting is 11, as well. Could this be a problem?
I would appreciate any help/suggestions.

PS: My pc is a compaq presario 5340 with windows 98 OS, AMD-K6/2 400 Mhz with 96 meg ram.

I have a Pro-Share USB camera also...Win98 loads it as an "Imaging Device" also. I have noticed I have to unplug it from the USB port and plug it back in several times before the exclamation mark disappears then it will function.

Try that. I think it is a very common problem with USB devices, but at least they are made to be connected "hot"
