It seems that since I added a Netgear ethernet card to my system, 3 minutes has been added to my bootup. I've run msconfig and removed all I can manage without already.

It gets to the C prompt and it's 3 1/2 minutes from that point, used to be 30 seconds or less.

Tweakui is set to 1 second, Win98 original release with the updates. I've also run thorough scandisk and defrag on all hard drives. My C drive is a WD 7200 rpm ata 66, not among those recalled.

I have no ? or ! in system device manager. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my old p200mmx with a 3com ethernet adapter.. But it only occured when the card wasn't connected to the hub correctly or with my cable-modem.
I think it starts to search for a network connection which isn't there.

Hmmm, it's connected to another computer with the same card using a crossover cable. I haven't checked to see if the other card has the drivers installed yet.

I'm going to check that now! Thanks!

Try giving the card it's own IP address instead of using the server assigned IP. It's under TCP/IP properties fro your network card. Make sure you assign different IP addresses to each machine, like 192.168.0.1 for the first and 192.168.0.2 for the second. Set the subnet mask on both machines to 255.255.2550. I hope this helped. Good luck.

Nope, that didn't fix it either.
