x1900xt 256 mb ddr3 or 7900gtx 512mb Am I correct that most reviews show the x1900xt as faster or equal to the 7900gtx. I would think the 7900gtx would be faster because it has 512mb of ram but its not as far as I can see and if this is so how do they justify the difference in price.

Ram size doesn't determine the speed. As far as I know the x1900xt is faster.

the amount of ram doesn't determine the framerate of the card. You can have a 256MB 6600 versus a 128MB 6600GT and the 6600GT will beat it every time.

Based on the benchmarks they ran, I would personally get the 7900 GTX. In fact, based on these tests, I would even get the 7900 GTX over the X1900 XTX. Just my opinion though.

However, those models are outclassed majorly by the X1950's and the 8800 series of GPU's. You should seriously take a look at both of those before you decide to get a card. They are the new flagships of ATI and Nvidia.

its the cost im looking at a x1900xt 256 is 199.00 which is half the cost of the 7900gtx or 8800 series cards also the x1950 card don't seem to be worth the difference in price per performance. also do you guys know is the an Arctic cooler vga cooler on the new cards or is this the Vantec Ice cube 6. Any idea who makes it.

neither. it is an ATI cooler. it looks similar to the AS, but it's not the same.

The 1900 is a bit faster, especially when you enable AA/AF, it suffers a lot less than the 7900's do. It also has the ability to do HDR and AA which the 7900 series card do not. You're limited to either one or the other.

The 7900 cards though seem to do better in SLI than the 1900's do in Crossfire and they consume less power, run cooler and quieter.
