I was trying to clear my CMOS so i set the jumper to the clear cmos position. (Gigabyte mb/award bios) I boot up but unfortunately the computer freezes. Now i always get a "CMOS checksum error - loaded defaults" upon startup. I can continue with F1 and everything works fine. What should i do? Try to clear the cmos again, ot upgrade the bios?

Thanks,
Dimitris

Go into the bios and try saving the settings, make sure the correct date and time and hard drive setting are set though.

You mentioned you put the jumper to the clear CMOS position but you didn't mention that you put the jumper back. Did you?

When i first changed the jumper i just moved it one position. (i knew JP3 was the clear cmos and it had 3 pins so i just moved it). When i tried to put it back i checked the manual and saw that i had it to the normal position. So i thought i had changed it and didn't remember.

Well bottom line is the manual has the wrong settings for the specific jumper (found out at .motherboards.giga-byte newsgroup).

Thanks for the answers,
Dimitris
