Hey all,
Just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be on ZDTV's Live Comdex broadcast on November 16th from the Las Vegas Convention Center at 4pm (Pacific Time). If you're not familiar with it, ZDTV is a cable and satellite channel devoted to helping users get more out of their computers, basically - it's really a great channel and their ScreenSavers show is super.
For my segment, I'll get to pick any 3 products that are being debuted/showcased at Comdex, grab 'em from manufacturers (with their approval of course /forum/smile.gif ), then display and talk about them on the show.
So, I thought I'd:
A.) let you know about the program so you can watch - Anand might be on there the same day or the day before or after, as will Tom Pabst and Sharky, but that's it as far as I know.
and B.) Ask for your recommendations. We've all heard rumors about what will be debuted at Comdex, many of which turn out to be true /forum/smile.gif. So, let me know what your votes are for the 3 new products that I should snag and talk about on the show.
Thanks,
Scott ( sdw@sysopt.com

Gosh Scott.. seems to be the ole scenerio of Kids in the Candy Store /forum/wink.gif to me... Maybe you could get to together with the other Webmasters and we could all view many different products by having no Webmaster review the same... Have fun

Heheh yeah /forum/smile.gif.. We'll each take 3 different products, so that the show will take a look at 9-12 products between us all. That shouldn't be too tough to do considering the large number of products that are debuted there, but it will be tough to narrow it down.

Thanks Vampiel /forum/smile.gif. C'mon folks, suggestions please! This isn't exactly a "how old are you", or "what's your favorite drink" thread, but your feedback is appreciated! /forum/wink.gif

I think a pre-release coppermine would be cool... el'camino board?, Any sound card that will do Dolby Digital 5.1 AC3. DVD decoders maybe? LCD screens are cool.
Sounds like I could just make a little wish list!

I'd really like to see (and I think it would make a impressive review) is the output of HP's DesignJet 2800CP (or 3800CP) large format plotter. The color 3'x5ft print I saw from the earlier 2500 series was astounding. This product (the 2800) started shipping September 1st (according to HP sales) but I've yet to find someone who has it in stock. It was probably at the previous Comdex, however, HP is suppose to show case their entire line of peripherals, so it should be there.
Of course nVidia's GeForce will be one of the main attractions in the main stream graphics arena.
Maybe one of the many interesting things that will be happening at Comdex, is at the keynote on Day3, Nov. 15th, by Idei, Nobuyuki. President and CEO of SONY. His Topic is "Hardware in the Network Society". But he will also be showcasing the first US demonstration of PlayStation2 technology. This is truely a WonderBox and will make make for another neat review. The technology inside is really worth mentioning. Maybe after the demo, the unit will be at their booth...?
~edit
I guess if you decide on something like these products, the taping can be arranged to be done at the booth.... something can be arranged, no?

Perhapse you could pick up a copermine, or maybee even an IA-64 w/motherboard. I like the PSX 2 idea. Oh, and get one of those new 73gb IBM hard drives!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions, they're noted and I'm considering everything. Keep 'em coming!
Bleeding Edge: The product would have to be moved to the stage that they're broadcasting live from, but even those large printers have rollers on them /forum/smile.gif.
