Opened up my Steam client and as usual, I find so much added content; games, demos previews and al the lot...
Noticed this game, which i 'm sure is some old news and familair to many who play this type of game.. so i checked out the latest trailer there.
Since i'm into mostly FPS games along with some RTS , I did remember the hype and screenies that came out about X2 the original. Gandered over it, and must say from the visuals, graphics and other, plus the reviews by major game mags., these got very high marks..
I love graphics, as do us all, and also love universal themes, so I just may gt this someday and check it out.. Kind of a build your own ship, alliance type of thing, with missions and?
Well worth just takig a look at if nothing more than the great sounds, visuals, and any new graphics cards you have now... On the main website they even have tests for ones video cards to display your specs and how it will fair.
Looks stunning.. on my mid range card.. sounds are awesome too. ;)

Played the first one, if your into Elite and games of that ilk, then there's plenty to enjoy.

Is that your Pic. of yourself JaK? If i showed mine.. they'd have to censor it for uglyness.. LOL Think i'll change mine someday soon. its getting old.
Space games are definitely a special kind of thing. I wish i knew what that video sequence was they show in 3D mark 03. Thats looks sweet. Would love to play a game like that... Via.. space FPS, alliance , factions sort of thing.
All i've played is like Homeworld 2 , which i really never got into, Too much stuff to control and although some nice features, i felt like i was not seeing anything up close, and playing around with mniature models and effects... looks llke finally somebody is getting all those kinds of things worked out a bit better.

Aye, thats little old me. Having seen photo's of JM, i figured i couldnt be the ugliest around here, so thought why not.
Homeworld 2 was alright, but it was an RTS game, the X Series is more your typical "Elite"-esque space cobat simulator, complete with trading, combat etc. IIRC an updated v2.0 version of X3 (which is quie snazzy visually) should be - or already is out - soon

You look totally different than i imagined... I thought form your name you'd be like 300 pounds, and much uglier than that. LOL Actually i'm not gay ... but you are a good looking guy Jak. Better looking thn me ..me thinks.
I'm tall pretty thin build and have or had strawberry blond hair. Its about two thirds grey at the moment.. a sure sign i'm getting old. Once you past fifty like me, its all downhill from there...
Building things is very neat, but i'm not sure i have the patience for that or not. I used to build models as a kid and even when i got alot older i still did that some. Beings that the ships and all look pretty awesome, it would be fun to build up your own alliance and put them into battle. Will this game have any FPS elements??

lol, the "Big" in the username is in reference to the fact that i hit 6 feet in height at the age of twelve, in the intervening 9 years i've only managed to gain another inch and a half, so its a bit of a misnomer now, but nevermind. I hear you on the hair, one thing i've never been short of is hair, but judging by the men in my family, all that should change by the tiem im 30 :x
I'm not reqally a fan of most strategy games to be honest, largely because i dont regard most of them to be particularly "strategic", many of them still rely on the formula devised by Westwood for Dune II of mining resources, building masses of units and spamming your enemies with force. I personally prefer games like Myth I and II where you have a predefined amoutn of units with which to complete a mission, or turn based strategy games such as the amazing (and incredibly old skool) Space Crusade - because i think they are genuinely strategic.
As for the X series, no FPS elements AFAIK, but they are basically space combat games so there's plenty of action, thing of them as like a WWII flight simulator but without the more technical elements, set in space, and with lasers and your halfway there
