Hi,

In my hotmail account I selected in the Mail Display Settings from "Message Headers" the option "Full"
and with this option the mails I recevie have some info like:
X-Originating-IP: [000.00.000.000]

So this is my question..if someone I used to receive emails from him/her
the IP in the emails appear the same everytime they send only the last number changed like let say "233" the next mail they send will be "234"coz they are using the same laptop and from the same town But what about if they went to another town dose the IP will apper the same too if they are using THEIR laptop? and if they are Not using the laptop and sending from a cafe net or another computer will it be the same IP or it has to be different?
how come they are sending from another town or country and still the IP the same!!
can you explain how it works pls
hope you understand my question :(

Thanks in advance

IP addresses are assigned by the ISP to the connection from the device that is on (desktop or laptop). If you move to another building with the same laptop, then you will get a different ending octet of the IP address. If you move to another town with a different ISP, then the entire IP address will change (one or more of the octets will change).

For example, your last IP address was 213.42.21.80

That means if they are sending from another town the IP in the email must be different!! but the mails they are sending to me the IP on them still the same like if they didnt travell!!! that mean the person didnt go to anywhere as he/she are saying!!! :( :(

Thanks alot for the info

Or since Hotmail isn't traveling, then the IP address is the Hotmail server and not your friends IP address.
