Ok, my sister has a Winbook laptop and I set up the wireless router for her today. It was connected for about 4 hours until she came home and I gave her the laptop. She brought it in her room and 5 mins later she told me that she lost signal. Well ever since then the laptop won't read the Neatgear router I have.

I've tried to shutdown the laptop, disconnect the router and cable modem and reconnect them. Didn't work. Anyone have any ideas how to get it to detect the router again?

Is the wireless connection disable?

What have you checked?

Do you have any other "dialup software" enabled?

Did you use the wireless software to search for networks on the laptop?

What OS are you using?
Good Luck :)

It has windows xp on it and no the wireless connection isn't disabled. I haven't checked anything since I don't know what to check. At the bottom right where the wireless network icon is it says "Wireless network unavailable". That's it. I know my sister didn't mess with any settings.

are you sure the antenna is on? check around the sides of the laptop for a button to turn wifi on and off. she might have hit it by accident.

I don't see any switch on it for the antenna. This is bugging me, I need to fix this!

Find the manufacturers model number on the main sticker (usually the bottom) and tell us the exact model number details.

Someone will be able to find the user manual and point you in the right direction.

Are you using Windows to manage your wireless connection or the adapter maker's software?

sometimes it is a key combination like fn+f10. if the laptop came with wireless by default, there should be a little indicator light to say if the card/antenna is on or not.
