My first project after Christmas is to improve hard disk access time on my K6 3 450 based system
I thought I would use the Fast-Trak 66 RAID Card and a second 10.2Gb hard disk
Now for the question
What happens to the existing data on the original hard disk

Do you have to backup and reload as for a new system

is there an instsllation disk that sorts it all out for you

Can you add a third disk that is not the same size

I currently use windows 98 so if the disk is not re-formated would a copy of win 95 on the third disk crash the system

I know the answer is obviose to all you experts but your advise would be very welcome

Happy New Year
Tom

I don't know about ide Raids, but on a SCSI raid, you have to have the same size disks, you would not be able to use pre-existing data, and yes, there is a disk that sets up the raid array.

1st off YES back up your hard drive.
2nd You get one floppy that will give drivers to recognise the card
3rd you can chose another HD but if it's smaller all the drives will fall in sync.
I would recomond that all drives be the same and you can chose your array set-up.
The card comes with 2 ATA-66 18" cables and the performance is Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!
