currently to install shared apps I install the app in win98 and then have to install the same app in the same directory C: (fat16) when in NT. since the two OS don't share registries I think this is the only way to avoid dll errors. is there a simpler way of installing shared apps thx

thx Mntsnow I'd do the same thing but I'm sure I don't have the storage space for two .exe files for the same apps. how much fun is the new puppy? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif and with those sticks of pc133 your p3 450 sl37c should be hitting 600 no prob. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

The Kid's LOVE the puppy! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

The Memory is waiting on my Alpha to arrive http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif Hopefully the Alpha will arrive thursday or friday!) Then I'm going to go for the "BIG TIME!" LOL

Yep it does take up a bit more space by doing it the way I do but I've had much better luck doing it that way. (my burner software wouldnt even run in Win98 after I had to apply the patch to make it work in Win2k so now All apps get a full install with each OS.

You are correct in thinking that they DO NOT share registerys. My personal prefference in doing this is to install the App into EACH of the OS's and then I use a "shared" partition for the data. (by installing the APP into the "individual" OS partitions you do not run a risk of having one of the installations OVERWRITE any of the APP's files.

bigslammer when you use the same partition for the shared apps you dont get two files
from each it only overwrites them and updates the register from win 98 and nt
so go on and install them in the SAME directories and/or download the fat32 driver for nt4
to use a fat32 partition for both os'es
and you can read and write to your win98 part !
thats realy nice !
