I need to find out more about the SCSI interface and how to configure a system to utilize it properly. I have one system up and running with two SCSI HDD and an IDE CD-ROM. Computer is running and internet connectible but there are issues in the Device Manager re: PCI SCSI Bus and IDE Cntroller that are making the machine run in DOS Compatibility Mode. Would like to find some general guidelines on BIOS configuration to the CMOS that might make this run a little sweeter. Are there any SCSI enthusiasts on this Message Board?

Which scsi card?
Which IDE cd rom drive?
Are you loading a cd rom driver in your config.sys or autoexec.bat?

For scsi info, try a search on
scsi technical information
in one of the search engines.

If the problem started only after putting the SCSI card in the sys, then it is a resource conflict, normally of the I/O variety. You will have to juggle PCI card slots to find an acceptable combination, or you may have to disable some devices you do not use from within bios, like the second serial port or USB or such...

What's the motherboard,
what's the SCSI card being used,
what OS are you running under?

Since you're only using the primary IDE port on your MBD, try disabling the secondary IDE on the BIOS to free-up that IRQ.

Am still working on problem. Have part of issue with IDE Controller resolved (part)!
Will get back to you with results later.
Thanks.
