Hi all, just joined. Im going to get a new rig and its really confusing to me at this point. Dual core 2.13g or single core 3.0g? Two 7950's in SLI or one 8800? I plan to use my 50 inch wall mounted plasma HDTV for the screen and not really sure which one way would be best. Of coures price is a factor or this would all be done already, i would have just bought the best stuff available. I really dont want to spend more than $1500 but could goto $2G's if necessary. I want to be able to play the latest games WITHOUT lag, 2142, Doom, WoW, etc.. Whats the way to go, Intel or AMD, and if I go Intel 6400, 6500, 6600, etc?? If I go AMD do I want the FX, or will the 4300, 4400 etc work? So far ive got the screen and the broadband, everything else I will buy. (yes, I know about screen burn and plasmas!) Ive been checking the various manufacturers websites and eBay and theres too much to choose from. This rig will be for my gaming and surfing only, ive got another rig for the kids and wife to mess with. Is a 80g 10,000rpm HD better than a 250g 7200rpm HD for gaming? I dont think I could ever use up 200g with just gaming....

Sorry, I know this is a very broad question or questions, but after reading a bunch of posts here you guys seem to know MUCH better than me what will work great!

Thanks

from my point of view

Dual Core 2.13
single 8800

Agreed. I hope that "2.13" is a Core 2 Duo E6400

Core 2 Duo E6400
Geforce 8800 GTS (I assume)

If that's your setup, you'll be set for a while.

Thanks guys. I know these questions are silly, but there is just so much out there to choose from.

I will post the specs once I buy in the next day or so.

Happy New Year!
