Hello: I uninstalled wingate from a machine here at home after reinstalling windows98SE (just an install on top of the existing win98SE to replace missing files)

So now the program is uninstalled, but the applet remains in the control panel, and I think that it is interfering with the network (we have a network sharing an internet connection)

Basically, all I need is to get this machine to "see" the network so we can transfer files to get wingate working again...does anyone have any ideas...thanks for your time...

whit all files visibile search for the .cpl file for wingate and remove it. Then it wont appear in control panel anymore!

The file will be located in C:\Windows\System. I figured this is what you were after originally but after re-reading your question I wasnt so sure.

Just make sure you delete the right .CPL file.

I'm a little late, but I thought I'd point out that Tweak UI can hide Control Panel icons quite nicely. It's probably not what you're looking for, but for reference, it's easier than looking for the CPL files.

Does TweakUI work for win98? - Thought it was only for 95?

Axel - Yes sir, it's on the W98 CD. I don't know about W98SE though...

Eli,

Win98se doesnt come with it on the CD ;(. BUT you can install the Win98(standard) tweakui and it will work perfectly http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
