Any one know how to get shockwave to load in the Opera browser?
I spent about an hour looking around, and this is the best link I could find:
" Opera is not detected by the Shockwave Player Installer, however you can manually select your plugins folder."
Source:
http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/windows.html
It seems in Opera the shockwave is semi-automatic, what evert that means?
I use Firefox when I have to, but I would like to know how to get Opera to load the shockwave player.
Thanks for any help..
Go here:
Platform: Windows
Version: Shockwave 10.1.4.020
Browser: Netscape or Netscape-compatible and Internet Explorer
This covers Opera too.
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/default/english/win95nt/10.1.4.020/Shockwave_Installer_Slim.exe
Opera is the best browser.
Do the same for Flash Player:
Version: 9,0,28,0
Browser: Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera, and Internet Explorer
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

It installs but when I go to a site (neopets ..for my wife), it says it is not installed or not the latest version. I had already installed it fom macromedia, but figured I would try again.
Firefox will install shockwave and run just fine on that site. HOWEVER, I would like to get Opera to run also. It drives me nuts not being able to get Opera to run on the site with any game that requires shockwave. If you notice my first post, it states this:
" Opera is not detected by the Shockwave Player Installer, however you can manually select your plugins folder."

I can not figure out how to manually select the plugins folder, as shockwave does not even ask for a path??
Opera>Tools>Advanced>Plug-ins
You will see all the plug-ins installed by viewing this page see my image.
Can you give me the site and I will test it for you as it may be an Opera setting you have configured. My is in dfault at thei time as it is a new software build.

I take it you had no luck getting that game that requires the plug in to run?
It will run on MS IE6, and also Firefox, after the plug in is loaded.
Roadhog, I didn’t receive any messages from you via ICQ. For some reason that I have tried to isolate memebers cannot contact me via ICQ or PM. Both are enabaled but both do not work.
Here is my email address from link below.

Thanks G, I sent an email to the address you gave me..thanks
As far as Opera is concerned it will not work for me either but I do not get an error, as you do. Both FireFox and IE work on this site.
My suggestion is to use Opera when possible, then FireFox, and then IE.
Ensure Opera is the latest version that you have.
Version 9.10 Build 8679
http://www.opera.com/download/
I will keep your email as I have only just completed a clean Windows install, hence the delay in replying.
It may be that my Opera is not set up how I normally have it. If I'm able to get it working I will let you know tomorrow as plan to reconfigure Opera proper.

You should make a sticky on how to congure Opera proper lol
I am in the process of rebuilding windows also. Got an e6400 cpu and an asrock 777Dual0VSTA mobo. I forgot just how much stuff I had collected over the past three years with the last build.
Thanks for your time and trouble. In fact that is my work around, Opera, then Firefox, then as a last resort IE. I had been trying to get Opera to work on that site for about 6 months off and on and figured I could not do it, thus asking here for help.
Funny how Opera is the only browser to have this problem with this site??
Nice CPU :) That thing will fly.
Yes Opera is the best, I think so.
I'm in the middle of a detailed technical piece for the new version of my manual that I writing. I’m rewriting and augmenting the Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) entry. As it related to backups it is a large entry needed for Genie soft, the backup company I help.
I have so many windows open. Must get those two 20 inch Samsung LCDs and make life easier.
At the moment I have the sweetest CRT: Mitsubishi 930 19 inch (but viewable it is 18 inches).
So I will get back to you ASAP. I will work the problem.
PS: prompt me if I forget. You know how it is, one thing pushes out another, so they say. A bit of LOTRs for yah!.
Roadhog suggested I post my settings for others to use for setting up Opera V9.10+ securely.

Long live Opera, the best browser ;)
It won't upload the 1.4MB file. Maybe there is a limit.
