Hello all,

I really need some advice on a video card upgrade that I am considering.
Currently, I have a Geforce 7800GS 256 MB AGP card in my computer.
I want to replace it with the ATI X1950 Pro AGP card 512 MB card when it comes out. There is one thing that bothers me with the ATI card. The tech specs say it has 36 pixel shader processors and 8 vertex shader processors which I think comes out to 12 pixel pipelines. My current card has 16 pixel piplelines. The ATI card is much faster (575 MHZ core, 1.38 MHZ memory) and has more memory. Will I miss the other 4 shaders with the new card that much or will the speed and memory of the ATI card make up for the difference. My current computer has the following: 3.2 GHZ Extreme Edition w/Hyper-Threading.
2.5 GB of RAM
Maxtor 120 GB hard drive SATA
Maxtor 250 GB hard drive SATA
DVD-ROM 16x
DVD dual layer burner
Soundblaster Audigy 2 sound card

AGP? nope, that model is only available in PCI-E

only Nvidia offers high end chipsets for AGP

Ouch...
Unless you have PCI-e too.

Dude. why not just wait with that card? That card is plenty powerful for almost any game out right now (heck, my 6800 GT is plenty poweful for every game I have at high details. The only exception is Battlefield 2142, which I get best performance w/ most settings @ medium @ 1024x768. Dunno why either. Video card temps never
go above 62C, which tells me the card isn't trying)

If you're not happy with it, I'll take it off your hands. :D

hell yea, by all means, if you can get them on AGP go ahead.

it's VERY rare for this GPUs to show up in AGP now in days, most major video cards (3rd party) have stopped making AGP form factors for the high end chips

so yeah, if i were you, i'll most definitely get it
