I'm planning on building a new PC very soon and want to complete my order this weekend. I've chosen the following motherboard, but have question on Corsair memory for this motherboard:

ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Mobo
- Intel LGA775 Platform
- Intel® Quad-core CPU Ready
- Intel® Core™2 Extreme / Core™2 Duo Ready
- Intel® Pentium® Extreme / Pentium® D / Pentium® 4 / Celeron® D Ready
- Dual-channel DDR2 800/667/533
- AI NOS™ / AI Gear / AI Nap
- 8 Phase Power Design
- Fanless Design - Heat Pipe & Stack Cool 2
- Array Mic / Noise Filter
- WiFi-AP Solo

I'm planning on using Cosair XMS2 DDR2 memory. I've narrowed my memory choices to the following:

*CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400C4

*CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-8500C5

Question 1: Is the CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-8500C5 compatible with the ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Mobo?

Question 2: Will using the DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) with the ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Mobo give me better performance over the DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)??

Question 3: Will I see a big performance increase or am I wasting my money by using the DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) over DDR2 800 (PC6400)??

Question 4: Will upgrading to the DOMINATOR offer any benefit??

I do plan to overclock the CPU and Memory.

Thanks for the clarification

if you came across my own rig topic, you can find info there :)

to cut it short using this mobo, you will need DDR2, the fastest you can afford the better

but it will work as well with just the normal ones, if you can't afford the DDR2 800

I got 2 kits of OCZ 800 2GB (2 stick of 1GB), so that makes it 4 GB on my setup :D

BTW, i got the same mobo as well

if i were you, i'll go as high as possible with the RAM, but since only the 800 are available here, i didn;t have the option to get the 1066 ones :)

So ur saying that the CROSAIR XMS2 PC6400 dd2 800mhz CL4 4-4-4-12 will work for the ASUS P5B Deluxe Motherboard?

pls reply.. because i heard that the p5b deluxe has a picky choice of ram! must i update the Bios or sumthing? must i changed the voltage in the bios also? i dunno how to do these stuff!! so pls tell me.. anything as long as the ram works! willing to learn!!!!!

Yes it will work fine.

there is nothing to worry about

Did you even Glance over the 1/2 inch thick P5B manual?
i guess not

well i did, in one of the pages, about 1/4 way into the manual, there was a very interesting topic about RAM setup, config, speed, sizes, and OC

yes it's cool and funny that now Mobo manufactures acknowledges the public that OC-ing is okay :D

more and more of the Asus mobo, you'll find some "quick tips" references as on what could work better if you decide to OC

many years ago, this was like a forbidden topic in a manual

anyways back to the point, yes in the manual they do tell you what to expect from different type of RAMs that are not in the "OK" certified list, also what Timings to use, blah blah blah, and if there's problem go into manual mode, instead of Auto mode, yadi yada yala...

so in other words your RAM is fine, in the worse case scenario, you just need to manually try different timings as Asus suggested, and that goes specially for OC-er, which needless to say they don't even need to mention it, since OC-er does that anyways :)

of course Asus expect noobies OC-er that will only use their WinXP control panel to do the OC-ing, instead of going into the BIOS to mess around with the OC

There is an issue with some of the Asus mobo's setting the memory settings at other than those the chip needs, specifically the voltage, some default to 1.8 v. where the chips need 2.0 or above. The memory will work, but if you cannot boot with it, get a cheapo stick or borrow one that is 1.8 and boot with it, then change the memory voltage to 2.~. There has been a bios update for most of the boards, but your board may not have it yet.
