Okay - newbie here. Building my first PC...made the mistake of buying a cheap motherboard (apparently)..in any event, I'm determined to make this thing work..

Here's the deal -

I've got a PC100 M599LMR Socket 7 board. Switched the jumper for the CMOS, installed my memory, cpu, fan, drives, etc...

I plug in the monitor, turn it on - the hd spins, light comes on, but nothing on the monitor. I even tried two other monitors and nothing.. Here's a side note, however, on one monitor, when I plug in the cable to the system, the light on the monitor goes from green to amber.

Forgive me for my ignorance - my proficiency is in programming, not this stuff.

Please guide me!

Thanks in advance,

Meathead

well the amber light on the monitor indicates that you are not getting a video signal. does that motherboard have integrated video, or do you have a separate video card?

This is one of those PC Chips motherboard; these are ****, I know cause I have one. I had the same problem at first, what I did was recheck the pin settings again and again. Make sure you look at the manual because the 1st pin can start on the left of the right. Also if you have more than one fan connector try connecting it to the other fan. And last try other setting from what the manual says, cuase the manual has a lot of mistakes.

i have the same motherboard myself...try going to the bios and see if the primary video adapter is set to agp (which is what the system uses for video). if the setting says to set the pci to primary video adapter and you have something else in the pci slots, it might not work....try setting the primary adapter to agp and see what happens

your video might be fried as well, but in that case throw a party and buy a better board....
