After read the Blackice topic raised by Daveleau, It's got me wondering (and nervous).

I'm a bit of a rooky when It comes down to Internet security and the Hacking lark.

What do you recommend for someone like me to look at/use to prevent people hacking into my machine.

On the same subject, I'm a System Analyst and can work with Novell quite happily, but what measures (apart from firewalling) can you take to stop these annoying little BŁ$STŁ"@S from hacking the system.

Mostly I'm interested in home security as the WAN should already covered... (I hope).

Hi Squirrel,
You may find the site listed below helpful, it helps to test your system's vulnerabilities and explains how to take some preventative measures (short of a firewall) to keep from being probed.
