DVD Region

I have a DVD Writer. When I had installed the drive, it showed 5 changes remaining for changing the region and it was No region selected.
Now when I check the properties it shows Region1 selected and 4 changes left.

I have not played any movie DVDs on this drive. The only DVDs I have used on this drive have been data DVDs.
I wonder what might have set the region automatically.
Do DVD player software like PowerDVD or WinDVD set the region by default after their installtion?

It may have been set based on your OS preferences.

I never set mine but it also shows as Region 1 with 4 changes remaining.

I have never made any changes on my DVD player and I doubt you will either.

do you plan on playing foreign dvds? if not, then you shouldn't have to change your region anyway.
