I get randam freezes every once and awhile sometimes onec in a few days or a few times in a day. It's driving me crazy. The system completely hangs, u can do anything! Not even alt-cltr-del. The last thing i remember doing was installing my actiontec call waiting modem and upgrading my processor from a pentium 233 mmx to a AMDK2-400. Don't remember exactly when it started though. I changed the video driver many times. oh yeah, Im using a pci creative labs tnt card with the 2.08 reference driver. They seem to be more stable, all the other ones had graphic corruption or even more frequent system hangs. Please help

System spec:
AMDK2- 400
Fic 503+
64 mb edo ram
cl tnt 16mb
maxtor 5.2 hdd

one more thing.. my sound card just dissapeared on me.. i don't know where it went, it's plug and play but now windows won't detect in on boot up. now it's "plug and sit there"

merry x-mas

cracker009,

How are you temperature readings, have you opened the case and directed a fan into it to see if heat might be causing the prob?
What is your OS, and are you ever getting any error messages when this happens? Are you running an AntiVirus program (Which one and version)?
Most of all, do you have your system backed up in case you need it?
Sorry to raise more questions, but the more you reveal, the better help you will get, especially with an intermittent problem like this.
Some of the suggestions at the post below may be of help too.

Best of luck,

If not a virus, perhaps you could try another video card. The freezing and cold rebout is eventually gonna cause all kinds of other problems and added confusion.

If you are still running Win95 you need to run a patch. AMD has a patch on their site for K-2's and K-3's running over 350mhz. www.amd.com (http://www.amd.com)
