my sister got a linksys speedbooster and it was working great until she decided to set up wep or wpa security now its all gone bad.
she went to the page 192.168.1.1 and created a password then entered the settings to begin she entered a network name and pressed save settings then she lost the connection to the net. it wont connect now it shows as been locked with a padlock at the side and asks for a pass key she never set one up yet is there some way she can get into it to reset the settings.
cheers tam

There should be a reset pinhole in the router.
Just need to use a paperclip and hold the reset button for 5 seconds.

will she have to go through the setup procedure using the instalation disk that came with it or is it just a case of pluging it in again

What broadband connection is she using?
If she's using cable, then she really did not need to install any of the software. Its pretty much plug and play. Plug the modem into the cable coax, plug the router into the modem, plug the computer into the router.
As for the reset, it resets the router back to the way it was before she made any changes to it.

Imperion's right but I tried Linksys and even though I shouldn't have to - it made me go through the setup CD - I've tried Linksys over the years, routers, hubs, wireless....are using both ethernet and the wireless both at the same time? If so make sure you've connected it according to their setup instructions.
I've had the worst luck with their reliability and ease of use - I have some laying around (plan to give 'em away here on sysopt just before Christmas for shipping costs.)
If you are stuck - reset like Imperion said, if using cable and wireless power down the cable modem, power down the wireless, then any hubs.
Then restart the modem, wait for lights, restart the wireless, wait for lights, then power the hub if applicable - then try again the setup on a hard wired machine doing exactly what it says in the manual and best of luck :t
