DKJones96 11-13-2006, 11:50 PM new mainboard is the only way Midknyte 11-14-2006, 01:37 AM yes you need a new board. the chipset has to support PCIe. http://www.motherboards.org/articles/tech-planations/1438_1.html Baddog 11-14-2006, 06:35 AM You almost get suckered into "New" everything. rockinup1231 11-14-2006, 10:50 AM He's new. I may have only joined May of this year, but I had that train of thought too. I know I should start a new thread for this stupid question, but here it is. I have PCI, and I have AGP, I have two video hook-ups. Is the one directly attached to the mobo the PCI one? Board:SIS 735, Socket 428 (A) Baddog 11-14-2006, 11:34 AM The AGP will be a long brown slot. A PCI slot will be white(the same as for modems and sound cards), used for a PCI Card (Not PCIe) stealth17 11-15-2006, 12:14 AM I have PCI, and I have AGP, I have two video hook-ups. Is the one directly attached to the mobo the PCI one? Board:SIS 735, Socket 428 (A) I dont quite understand what you are asking. The AGP slot is a faster connection direcly to the northbridge chipset where as a PCI slot connects to the southbridge chipset and then to the northbridge. AGP has much more bandwidth available to it compared to a PCI slot. The lattency is much lower on an AGP slot as well, all this put together makes the AGP interference a much better choice for high-end video cards :p PCI-e is the next generation high speed, high bandwidth interference designed for high-end video cards. AGP is still overkill for even the latest video cards. The downfall is the limited amount of new AGP cards being released (although I read ATi is releasing a new one soon that will surpass any current AGP cards) and you can only get Sli on PCI-e. knero718 11-15-2006, 01:00 AM (although I read ATi is releasing a new one soon that will surpass any current AGP cards) and you can only get Sli on PCI-e. If you can get a link from where you read that, and post it, it would be greatly appreciated. I'd be very interested in seeing/reading it.. stealth17 11-15-2006, 09:12 PM If you can get a link from where you read that, and post it, it would be greatly appreciated.
