My my, we have deteriorated in my absence.

Suprised Rabbit at least hasnt piped up on this. Just gotten a hold this afternoon, not played much, seems very "samey" though. Also the new developers dont quite seem to have gotten the knack of incidental narrative in the way which Monolith did with the original, which is a shame.

Got this, NFS:Carbon and Double Agent to keep me busy over the weekend, happy days :D

I played the demo some... ot kind of ran worse than the original, so that was dissapointing to me.. The reviews are in truth a mixed bag. Not nearly as high as the original. I've seen then do some marketing on the telly lately, promoting it.

I just don't have any monies to buy games.. and there are only a select few I am going to get for sure. One is the next HL2 EPisode 2, and of course I cannot wait for Crysis to come out.
Yeah.., its just alot of the same, with some new weapons and frills, efffects, and a couple of updated baddies about.

In all honesty, i wish when someone makes a game as good as the original F.E.A.R. was.. I'd like to see more game makers do somethiing entirely new. Like a new story line and whole game. Addons are to me kind of lame. Dor instance if this group of soilders or organization is whatever, then create a new scenario and lets rock again ....

I do want SC Double Agent. regardless of the supposed specs it requires, i would still get it. I think it would ru fine on my rig. Any ohter game does.. LOL ;)

SC:Doubel Agent runs smooth as a babys bum on my machine, 1024x768 16xAF 2xAA and High Detail settings and no slowdowns or problems at all. Your box as a whole would be able to handle it comfortable, the FX5900 though is stopping you playing it due to the SM3.0 requirement

yeah.. I hear ya. I am so disgusted that the video card i want ( mid range ) 7600GT PCIE is like going for around $140.00 now. EGVA has one ( same maker as the one i have now ). And. it has 3.0 shader model. and open GL 2.0.
Due to moving and two other HW things i am getting next, who knows when i can afford one. Maybe i'll find a way or something positive will pop up as to monies.

So..,. If my card does ot have 3.0, then it just wouldn't run?

How do you like the game. Is it as good as the previews have stated?

Pretty much, until someone writes a shader replacement pack or something similar (there may be a way to jimmy it with 3DAnalyzer, who knows), but out of the box at present, its a no go for you.

If i were you re: the graphics card issue, i would bite down and take the potential hit of missing out on a few newer titles over the next month or so, and pick up a mid-range DX10 solution come 2007, rather than pick up a Mid-Range Geforce 7xxx now.

As for the game, good?... its the sex. A lot of people are complaining about bugs and graphical anaomolies, but im having no problem and thus far i'm loving it.

Hahah! SEX!.. oh no Mr. Bill Yeah.. by the time i actually am able to afford a card, things will change once more i suppose.

Thats whats scary. Already alot of the newer games will require more of the latest specs... and eventually my card will become moot as a hoot owl

I just never mess with extra card mods or other.. if it doesn't run something ..then pooey.. off to something else..

and.. for the record; DARN..DARN...DARN :x

Well, Jak i downloaded the SC Double Agent demo just to check to see if it would play .. and right after i oened it up after install it checks your system... Everything except the shader model 3.0 like you stated was OK.

I then tried to play it anyways and gotr hang on one of the load screens twice and then it even made it past the first few vrey nice opening video intros and then I got a crash popup. Stated to say; vortex shader error or some such. Oh well.... bummer....

Any ohter up and coming games with that as a main requirement. I wonder if crysis will have that... Hope not.

Crysis, unless i'm mistaken, almost cetainly will demand SM3.0 hardware. Similarly UT2007 may want SM3.0 though there are rumblings of an SM2.0 path being included.
