When you install a new software is it possible to update the registry without rebooting the system?

If you don't want to cycle all the way through, just hold the shift key as you tell it to restart. It will only restart the OS and not reboot your machine.

1. First close all programs currently running.

2. Hit "CTRL"+"ALT"+"DEL" ONCE!! Then
select "Explorer" and tell end task.

3. Then click "Cancel" on the Shutdown Confirmation.

4. If it asks for closing Explorer tell "yes" or in win98 Explorer will restart automatically reloading the registry with it.
