Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : windows explorer (182 extra files)? sundance 12-20-1999, 03:09 PM since i reinstalled windows 98, windows explorer is showing 182 files, that i never had/saw before. they are showing in my c drive (my only hard drive)they are DIR00001 all the way to DIR00182. what are they and what can i do with them? any ideas? thanks. drdeath 12-20-1999, 03:25 PM correct me if im wrong, but those sound like the files/folders that scandisk creates and stores the info to when it finds files or folders that are corrupted and it fixes them. ive never been able to use those for anything useful, and i just delete them. - i THINK that that is what those are... not totally sure, tho... psyklone 12-20-1999, 04:05 PM yeah, those would have a .CHK extension. socalgal 12-20-1999, 05:10 PM Hopefully, this will help. http://www.computingcorner.com/help/scandisk/scanningforerrors.htm Scandisk has found damaged folders it will attempt to recreate them as Dir00001, DIR00002, etc. drdeath 12-21-1999, 02:50 AM cool!
