Is there any way you can send the disk into the company, EA in this case and they're replace it for less than the price of the full program. I should mention the scratch wasn't there when we bought it, thank my brother. Anyway it will no longer run, or install. Thanks for any help.

If this is a cd, take your toothpaste and buff out the scratch. That is-as long as it is on the plastic side. Do not go in circles. Go from the center out in a straight line and then be sure to wash it off well with water.

As for ordering a replacement- I have no clue. /forum/smile.gif

Hi. I've also heard that one can use Brasso (brass polish/cleaner) in the fashion that the above responder described. Good luck.

Wow! That's one terrific tip... I was about to mention that Radio Shack sells CD repair solutions but this beats all.

I've also found that a couple of companies (thinking of Niles, which makes EndNote) have been very accommodating when it came to replacing lost or damaged CDs, when I gave them the old registration number... after all, it's the license to use the program, not the physical disk, that costs money.

There's also sum product I saw on TV Media that takes scratches out of almost anything--CDs, car paint, etc.

In my experience, most companies will replace scratched discs for a nominal fee of around £10. Some might insist that you had registered first though. Just find a local address on the manual.

That toothpaste trick is cool though. I'm digging out some of my knackered Playstation discs this evening! /forum/smile.gif

Glad it helped guys. Brasso is just as effective but harder to find in the home...at least I hope! /forum/smile.gif
