The brand is Maxtor, here is the link:

Is maxtor a good brand? Does it have any bad reps? I'm asking because.... it's cheap for a 300 GB hard drive. Or maybe not, I don't know anything about hardware. I'm just a gamer. :)

Everyone has their own favorites. I wouldn't touch a Maxtor with a 30 foot pole (a 10 foot pole isn't long enough). I saw 450 slim line IDE drives go up in smoke at work and we lost quite a few users data as well.

Seagate or Samsung for reliability.

Western Digital or Hitachi for speed.

The Maxtor "slim" drives are cute, but prone to failure. Their DiamondMax 10 and 11 drives are quite good though.

Alright then I'll try and look for a good deal on Western Digital or Hitachi.

Since Maxtor drives are almost always cheaper than the other brands, don't you think there is a good reason for that?

Yep, quality.
