Hi

My Wife asked her father to delete her old emails. The trouble is he logged onto our mail PC but in my name by mistake. I am using XP home. My outlook is set to empty deleted folded on exit. I have lost 1400 emails most dont matter but some are license codes for software I have bought so I need them back if possible.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Kev

PS: I know I'm a idiot but I have not got a recent back up

Outlook Express stores all emails of a mail folder in a corresponding .dbx file. For example, the Inbox.dbx file contains emails that are displayed in the Inbox mail folder in Outlook Express, the Outbox.dbx file contains emails that are displayed in the Outbox mail folder, and so on.

If you delete several emails in a mail folder accidently, then you can use Advanced Outlook Express Recovery to scan the dbx file corresponding to the mail folder, recover the deleted emails and save them as .eml files that can be easily imported back to Outlook Express.

Outlook uses a .PST file , Outlook Express uses .dbx . If Outlook has already compacted the PST , then I'm not sure the messages can be recovered . Follow the tips in the link , they may help .
