I just wondered if i use the power settings in control panel to turn off my hard drive after say 2hrs or what ever length of time would it cause any damage ?

Only the other week i upgraded my psu to a seasonic and its wisper quiet and now i can hear the hd spinning  lol

So if i fall asleep and leave my power settings to shut down hd after 2hrs and leave it run allnite this wouldnt do any harm

or stoppin and starting it in the day time also

Thanks for your replies

No it won't do any harm. Imagine the lawsuites Microsoft would get if a setting they designed did do harm;)

It won;t hurt th hard drive but it will slow you down then next time you sit down to use the computer.

You will have to wait for the power to be applied to the drive then wait for the drive to spin up to speed and then start accessing the programs.

It gives the HDD time to warm up to operational temperature. In turn this will stress the HDD less on first use.
